Think About It...Here Comes That Dreamer!

Think About It... Here comes that Dreamer! Come now, let's kill him...

Gen. 37:13-20

In God's word we find the story of Joseph "The Dreamer". When his brothers wanted to express their disgust of him they did so by saying "Here comes this Dreamer!" What a strange thing to say about someone you hate enough to kill. What is there in a dream that could cause such a violent reaction?

As a dreamer, I would like to share with you two reasons people sometimes react negatively to shose who have a dream. First, others often, feel pople who have dreams (goals) think of themselves as superior to those who have no dreams or goals. The reality is that the bigger the dream, the greater the humility. Big dreams make you realize how impossible it will be to bring your dream to life without the help of others. Only God can bring some dreams out of our minds and into our lives.

Second, dreamers are not willing to compromise their dreams for the usual bribes Satan offers. Joseph said no to acceptance, sexual pleasure, depression and despair, and to hatred and revenge, and to a feeling of superiority that often comes with power. Why? Because he had a vision of purpose given to him by the God of spiritual dreamers.

May God place upon your heart a spiritual dream for your own life, your families and our spiritual family at East Brainerd Church of Christ.

Join Me Fellow Fool

They say I'm a foolish man because I dream,
but my dreams carry me beyond and each time
I return to find I have moved closer
to the reality of my dream.

They say I'm a foolish man because I dream,
but my dreams have been there when there was no other hope.
My dreams have been there when all seemed lost.
My dreams have seen me through the worst.

They say I'm a foolish man because I dream,
but dreamers have always pushed man forward.
Dreamers have always brought us into
the next generation, right on schedule.
So, I may seem out of step and distant but
it's only because dreamers go so far ahead.

They say I'm a foolish man because I dream,
they mean no real harm, and yet many have
been destroyed by their accusations.
The fear of being different has caused many
to commit intellectual suicide.
For a man to stop dreaming a part of him
must die.
So, say what you want, but I will live
and I will dream.

They say I'm a foolish man because I dream,
so, foolish I will be.
Foolish enough to trust my fellow man.
Foolish enough to believe in God.
