Think About it...With Strangers

Think about it…With Strangers

And the church said AMEN!!

What an exciting time to be a part of the East Brainerd spiritual family. Mission trips, VBS, Camp, School Supply Day and almost 670 family members worshiped together Sunday.

As one of the Deacons said over and over again this past weekend “Can you feel IT? I did not know what it was but I definitely can feel it!

In the book, A Touch of Wonder, by Arthur Gordon we find the following thoughts on the subject of enthusiasm.

[“Enthusiasm – From the beginning is a remarkable word. The ancient Greeks used it to describe an inspired person: en meaning in, theo meaning god. The enthusiastic person, they thought, was one who reflected the presence of an indwelling god.”]

Enthusiasm is contagious. Have you ever found yourself caught up in someone’s enthusiasm? Their love, joy, passion, commitment fueled by enthusiasm simply sweeps those in their path along with them. They overwhelm you with their total commitment to a cause or idea. The object of their enthusiasm is not as powerful as the enthusiasm it’s self. It can be directed at stamp collecting or the World Wrestling Federation.

[The object of enthusiasm is not as contagious as the enthusiasm itself.]

A person who has a genuine enthusiasm for something will not spare any expense to promote their obsession. Bumper stickers, hats, t-shirts, key chains all will declare their own allegiance to the cause. Trips will be made to gather with other likeminded souls. Books will be read to keep up with the most recent and relevant information.

What does this tell us about our enthusiasm toward our spiritual family? I see an enthusiasm for God and His children that gather at East Brainerd. This enthusiasm is contagious. Many brothers and sisters have placed this church in the category of things they are most enthusiastic about.

More of us are willing to express in a positive way our Love for the Lord and our spiritual family at East Brainerd. I can see a genuine contagious love for this church and its members. God is blessing us in so many ways how could we not be caught up in the spirit of enthusiasm.

May each of us be willing to express in positive ways our love for the Lord and His church. May we express what is in our hearts, when we speak of our enthusiasm for the East Brainerd family at least three positive things will happen.

1.       It will give the speaker more energy and a deeper appreciation.

2.       It will lift the spirits of others.

3.       It will awaken an awareness of the good that God is doing in our family.

Sunday was such a blessing and the church said AMEN!
